Four Types of People in the World
Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras he explains:
Patanjali says there are only 4 types of people in the world & he tells us how to deal with them:
4 Types of People in the World
What to do
1. Happy People
Be friends with them.
This will eliminate jealousy.
Just as we’re happy when a loved one is happy, so it is if you are friendly with those who are happy.
2. Unhappy People
Don’t be friendly with them, but be compassionate towards them.
If you are friendly with them, what happens? You become unhappy, isn’t it.
3. People who do good things
Feel happy with them.
Feel you are one with them.
Feel that you are doing the act with them.
Competition will not come up and the tendency to criticize those doing good work will not arise.
4. People who do not-so-good things
Ignore & educate.
Ignore them in your mind. If someone says something which is not true, just ignore them. It’s not worth thinking about. (Usually, though we do the opposite. We tell everyone. We chew on it in the mind.)

Bangles. Lentil Soup and French Homework
I am working on many different projects. A black crochet wrap, studying for French, making a leather tote, cooking and reading Mansfield Park. All this while working my day-job.
The older I get, the more confident I become of what I can do, and the less time I seem to have.
French
Qu’est ce qute c’est?
“What” question
Answer: Ce sont les papiers/
“Who” Question
Qui est-ce?

Est-ce que?
Yes or No question.
Made this last night and brought it for lunch.
"Fast Cooking," like my mom says
1 cup of lentils
2 cups of water/and or chicken broth.
1/4 cup of coarsely chopped onions
1 celery stalk chopped
1 carrot chopped
1 clove of whole garlic
fresh thyme or a basil leaf
Olive oil
salt and pepper taste
Heat oil in pot
Sauté the onions, carrots, celery, in oil-until the onions begin to sweat
put lentils and broth in pot (add water gradually)
add whole garlic/ herb/salt and pepper
Heat / Simmer until cooked.
Add water if necessary.
Crusty Bread and a salad. Make a pot and you can heat it up fast for dinner!
Bangles bought at lunch! Coolio!

Shop the Market - First trip
July 29, 2010
Tomorrow is my first official shop the market Saturdays. I know it will be one of many but I have to start somewhere. I'm trying to narrow my focus down and design something that is functional, original, bare but cool. First stop is Jack Spade, then Camouflage, and if we can handle it up to the East 60's for Hermes. J wants to check that scene out and honestly, it maybe good for me or discourage me.
I have a lot going on, I'll take a few pictures and maybe something will start unfolding!

Baby birds
I have another one and this bird lives with me and Marlowe, Meet Madeline. She looks bigger but she's on the left, all puffed up. I had to sleep in the living room because it was her first night her and she wouldn't fall asleep, just kept making little baby bird noises. They are both up now, Marlowe is having his breakfast, indifferent to the racket she's making in the next cage.
The weekend was all about summer weather, so yesterday was one of those beautiful days. I have to say I am not a fan of hot and humid weather, may be surprising since I grew up in Florida for a good part of my childhood. I think the reason why I can't handle the NYC summer is the lack of central air. Love central air and new plumbing.
Lovey the mourning dove is sitting on her nest on another batch of egg(s). She and the Dandy, her love for life, I guess are having a go at a bigger family. Somehow, this house attracts birds, inside and out.

Trader Joes's Triple Ginger Snaps
Can't just eat one!
My cousin came to visit NYC after almost a two year absence. We had a wonderful time, we had dinner at Jack's Tavern in Brooklyn Heights at the insistence of JC. The food, atmosphere, cocktails were yummy and we had a good time catching up. :)
Spring is here. Lovey had her chick. See. They are incredibly sweet. The other day I made a little video of her feeding her baby. Absolutely beautiful. I feel good that she picked my window sill and see she's even looking inside my apartment. Maybe they would like to hang out with Marlowe. Mar's cage is very close to this window.
Speaking of Marmee, he will have a partner very soon. I brought him to Bird Camp yesterday to pick himself a friend and he did! The baby bird will be ready to come home sometime this week. This will be good for the birdhouse.
I'm on my 9th day of my 40 day meditation retreat. It's been actually quite easy to take that time out to slow down. It's like a mini vacation where I get to re-group and mentally rest.
Next post, maybe I'll show some of the jewelry that I've been making and yes, the knitting.

Maybe my coming work week won't be so bad; an unruly relationship with my superior at the Bunker has ended. He has left the building is all I have to say.
Next post, maybe I'll show some of the jewelry that I've been making and yes, the knitting.
