It has been awhile since I last posted. As most of my close friends know, it's been a difficult month. However creatively, I've attempted to make things and in some instances accomplished just that. Yesterday, I had two of my girlfriends, IS and SB over and I converted my kitchen into a little workshop. Recently, I've been on this kick of beading or making jewelry, mostly for myself but IS is making to sell.
While they were gold wire wrapping stones for a necklace, I baked this ridiculous chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream frosting, I describe as ridiculous because when you make a cake, a real cake from scratch, you realize how much pure fat and sugar goes into the desserts. It's serious.
I think there were about 10 eggs in this recipe, whether separated and beaten or put in whole, no less than 4 sticks of butter, at least 3 cups of sugar and lots and lots of chocolate. I had a taste, a sliver with a tall glass of milk and sent it straight downstairs to my neighbors, where hopefully it was cut in generous slices and eaten by their guests.
Sunday night, oh pooh and time to go to bed. I am hoping to beat down the negative and toxic thoughts and turn them into sunshine and lollipops, that a bit of an stretch for me, but I will try.

Happy Birthday to me!
These are the original guys. Left is Chico and on the right is Freddie. (Taken from Freddie Prince of Chico and the Man.) I've had these two stuffed monkeys since 1st grade, so essentially they are in their late thirties.
Happy Birthday to me.
March 16 - 3:27am at St. Alexis Hospital in Cleveland, with my Dad and all his doctor friends present in the delivery room. My poor mom.

Everyone and their brother was out today in B-town.
And it can be a bit unbearable at times. But look, I can knit. The class was fun especially once we all started to get the hang of it. I find it mesmerizing when I see women on the subway knitting, their fingers so nimble, needles a blazin' and the yard string making texture, colors and patterns. Now, I can do it too. Cool! It's a portable way to make fabric. So are you ready for your scarf Christmas presents?
Yesterday, I kept busy. I was truthfully afraid that the sunny weather would make me sad (more sad.) It can be insufferable in my neighborhood with couples hand-holding, families hanging out on the street, brunching, biking, yacking and what not. I've learned when you live in NYC, no matter how many people are around you, it can be one of the loneliest places. With that said, NYC is still my favorite choice of residence, you just have to deal with it's ups and downs.
Later, Bill came over and we ordered delicious middle eastern food and drank some wine from my new favorite wine store. Bill gave me my b-day present. It is the most beautiful book ever! Thank you Bill!! I really needed some Bill time. We have lots of history in our friendship. We have known each other since the days in the Camelot on 45th and 8th Avenue.
Speaking about that wine store, today I'm going to sign up for their wine tasting courses. It's a great deal, 12 tastings for 60 bucks and you can bring a friend. The store interiors is very nice and they designed a great learning center in the back room. Don't tell anyone but my neighborhood is fantastic.
Today, is yoga at 10 am in the hood, I don't think I can deal with Manhattan today. I'm going to make spaghetti and meat balls for my Oscar party (Mar and me) and these little chocolate French cakes that are from The Splendid Table cookbook. P made them and said the cakes are delicious especially the second day. I'm going to give some to my lovely neighbors too.
And lastly, here is the snap-shot that I promised. A picture of my workstation at the Bunker. If you look closely, (or click on image) you can see on the left screen drawings OF workstations! Pretty amazing, I know.
Happy Sunday and Happy Oscars Night!

Time flies when you're busy in the Bunker
During the week I spend so little time in the tree house, my apartment. It's my favorite place. Plus, it's set-up for my pursuits; sewing, writing, cooking, relaxing, practicing yoga, listening to music, entertaining and reading. You get the picture.
Today, I should be receiving the sewing machine part that I ordered. My machine has been broken for months and it's frustrating because I want to get my Tuesday craft night back on track. All are invited. On Friday night, I may be brave enough to see The Single Man. It's the Tom Ford film that is suppose to be visually stunning but the story may not be the most uplifting. But for those who know me well, know that I am the sensitive type and can find solace in the emotions of the heart and human nature.
For Saturday, I signed up for a knitting class and will hopefully spend some time with my friend Bill (Bill is a she.)
Well, off to get the corporate gear on, maybe if you're lucky I will take a snap-shot of my workstation today. It will be totally insane to see!!!

Work, Run, Wine, Beer, Dance Party and Making a pair of earrings
I went to the gym after work. My gym is the beautiful men gym of NYC and not one of them are interested in women. But whatever, there are soft towels and Bumble and Bumble products in the locker room.
SB came over with 3 beers that she drank, and I drank red wine. She is my adorable, very pretty, funny, smart, twenty six year old architect friend that lives in CB. She has jewelry making skills so she finished the earrings below that I started weeks ago.
We danced to Britney's 3 and all the beads fell on the kitchen floor. I will wear the earrings to the Bunker tomorrow and reminisce of the fun I had on a regular ole Monday night. nite.
